Danú Ishka was set up in 2015 in Kilcummin Killarney County Kerry Ireland. The name was inspired by the mountains above where the peat is extracted. The two peaks are called The Paps of Danú. She was an ancient goddess of earth and fertility. We use an image of the peaks on the cover of our product. The word ishka means water. Uisce is the Gaelic spelling of the word which is pronounced ishka. The peat is mined at a depth between four and five thousand years old and is located in an area in Kilcummin called Inchicorrigane. This bogland has been in our family for nearly 200 hundred years but it was not known until now the therapeutic benefits of the peat within.
